The Island Arrangement - Elouise Tynan - ARC Review

Enemies to lovers
The Island Arrangement by Elouise Tynan

The Island Arrangement written by Elouise Tynan is a fake-dating, enemies-to-lovers romance fiction set in Antigua. The book is about a billionaire, Blake who hires a fake girlfriend, Honor to his brother’s wedding. Why? Well, Blake’s ex-fiancĂ©e Reyna is the maid of honor, and he needs to convince her and the entire family that he's moved on. Sparks fly, tensions build, and of course, chaos ensues!

The Book starts off with Blake meeting Honor for the first time at the airport lounge. From the moment they meet at the airport lounge, the chemistry between Blake and Honor is undeniable. They’re both attracted to each other, but keep reminding themselves: "This is professional, not personal." Blake, ever the grumpy billionaire with a wounded heart, and Honor, the sunshine in human form, clash immediately. Their banter is fun, but what happens once they land in Antigua puts their professionalism to the test. With Honor easily fitting with Blake’s family, and Reyna trying to get Blake’s attention back, will these two remain professional or will they give up and risk it all?

The book majorly focuses on the relationship between Blake and Honor. The book also talks about how one bad relationship can affect one’s emotions. Blake used to be a fun, outgoing yet serious and focused guy before, ever since his breakup with Reyna, he’s shown as the one who shuts down his emotions and now is just a serious and focused guy who only cares about growing his business. Honor, on the other hand, is a successful entrepreneur who doesn’t have a supporting family finds it difficult to openly talk about her business, and hates rich people because of their attitude.

What I Liked:

  • The grumpy-sunshine trope? Always a win! Blake and Honor’s dynamic gave me life.

  • The family drama adds a nice touch of tension, and Honor fitting in so easily with Blake's family was entertaining to watch.

  • Spencer! Seriously, I need a Spencer spin-off ASAP.

Where It Fell Short:

  • The descriptive language? It felt a bit much at times. Some scenes, like the airport lounge, didn’t quite come to life for me.

  • Blake’s side of the family got all the focus, while Honor’s barely got a mention. I would have loved to see more of her backstory.

  • The emotional connection between Blake and Honor was underdeveloped, with more focus on their physical chemistry than their emotional journey.

Overall, it’s a fun, fast-paced read, perfect if you’re in the mood for a light enemies-to-lovers with some steamy tension. But if you’re hoping for deep emotional connections and detailed settings, this might not fully deliver.

Rating: 3/5
While I enjoyed the premise, the rushed plot and lack of emotional depth kept me from fully connecting with this one.

Note: This is entirely my personal opinion about this book. If you loved it, great! This book isn’t for me I guess.

Happy Reading!

Hi, I'm Gayathri, a lover of life’s simple yet magical moments. I adore wearing jhumkas, even when they pinch a little because they remind me that beauty sometimes comes with pain. My heart belongs to romance – I read everything that celebrates love and write it too, weaving stories of heartbeats and soul connections. You'll often find me wandering through bookstores, promising myself not to buy anything, only to leave with a stack of new adventures. Something is enchanting about tea on a rainy day, don’t you think? The way the rain taps on the window while you sip warmth from a cup, and instead of hiding from the rain, I embrace it. The rhythm of the raindrops brings a calm that only the sky can offer. And then, there’s the swing—ah, the swing. I can never resist the urge to soar high, letting the wind caress my face, and in that moment of weightlessness, everything feels possible. Life, to me, is about finding these little moments of wonder, where time pauses, and joy is all that matters. Welcome to my world!
